Welcome, 2021, installation, interactive gobelin, embroidery, variable dimensions (collaborator: Alen Mrsic / production: Kontejner)
During the ZOOM meeting (through the pandemic and after the earthquake in Croatia), we would often take off the gobelin embroidery, to get a clean background and to present ourselves in such a modern, minimalistic image. The artwork „Welcome“ consists of nine gobelin embroidery, some of them are Wiehler’s, and others are from the „Unitas“ factory in Zagreb. If you bring your hands closer to the tapestry [the one with the motif of the woman with the jug], a disinfectant will flow out from it. The second tapestry [with a motif by Jean-Honoré Fragonard – “The Girl Who Reads”] measures the distance from the embroidery. If you get too close to the embroidery, all six lamps will light up on it, and you can read the distance in the motif of the book that the girl is holding in her hand. The third interactive tapestry is the one with a church, that detects movement and sends an ironic message „Welcome“.
