Green Man, 2019, printmaking installation, silkscreen, electric paint, touchboard, clips, speaker

This work is collaboration with scientist Petra Maric, PhD. From 2012 to 2015, at the Rudjer Boskovic Institute, Petra Maric, PhD conducted research  studying algae Caulerpa: C. taxifolia and C. racemosa in localities within the Adriatic Sea – Stari Grad, Hvar and Vrsar, Istra (Maric, 2017). The main purpose of this research was to test the toxicity of this invasive green tropical algae.
In front of the observer, there is print made in silkscreen – floating green man. If the person look closely, it could be seen that cardiovascular system of the Green Man is covered with invasive green algae. The results of the Maric’s research proved that this algae is very dangerous for the environment. Still, there is no special movement to clear it from the Adriatic Sea. For that reason, in front of the silkscreen Green Man is plexiglass with lines. The lines are made with electric ink connected on touchboard with speaker or with headphones. When the person touches the surface of the lines (head, chest, arm…) the voice of scientist Maric explains the importance and real results from this environment research that is often not transparent for the public view.
